Welsh beef boost

EFFORTS to create a brand image for Welsh beef have been boosted by a £700,000 EU Objective 5b grant.

The award to Welsh Lamb and Beef Promotions will be matched by the MLCs promotional levy, the Guild of Welsh Lamb and Beef Suppliers and Gwynedd County Council.

The Brussels cash means WLBP now has £1.6m to spend over the next two years.

The first major use for the money will be an autumn television campaign.

Several retailers and catering companies have also agreed to run special Welsh beef promotions.
