Welsh farmers helped to go part-time
WELSH farmers seeking part-time work are being brought together with small businesses by the Farming Families Re-skilling Programme in mid-Wales.
The programme aims to provide the work for farmers in other sectors of the economy such as horticulture, woodworking and horticulture.
Training is free, but participants must be willing to take up part-time or seasonal employment with a local business.
Those who prefer to stay on the farm can receive training in organic farming and in setting up small haulage businesses.
The scheme is funded by the Welsh Development Agency and the European Regional Development Fund.
Almost 100 farmers have been on a course since last October and.
Thirty-nine companies have sought their skills and 27 have found work.
