Wheat prices mixed pre-Easter HGCA

  • Delivered wheat prices ended last week mixed. Old-crop feed wheat positions closed higher across Yorkshire and the south-west, while those in Liverpool ended around 1/t. New-crop feed wheat prices fell 1/t throughout the country.
  • Bread wheat prices in the south-east rose about 3.50/t from a sharp increase in consumer spot demand. Prices there are now similar to those delivered Liverpool.
  • Traders cited Sterlings strength as the leading influence on cereal prices last week, although markets were generally quiet in the run-up to the Easter holidays.
  • There remains only limited interest in old-crop feed barley, with attention turning instead to new-crop.
