Whitbread brands British beef ‘poor’
WHITBREAD, Britains biggest restaurant operator, said yesterday that farmers were now unable to supply it with sufficient beef of acceptable quality.
It said it was unable to buy more than half of its beef from the UK in spite of a buy British policy.
David Thomas, chief executive, said his buyers had to turn to Argentina for steak that met the groups standards.
