Whitebreds sell to 1850gns
LOYAL supporters of the White-bred Shorthorn gathered at Car-lisle for the Breed Associations spring show and sale where bidding reached 1850gns.
The call came for the Murt-holm Special Blend son, Hottbank Spice Boy, from J R Pattinson, Bardon Mill, Hexham. Buyers were Messrs Ferguson, Barlees, Dalry and Messrs Gilligan, Gate-house of Fleet.
Judge Mr J Ross, Shawhead, Dumfries awarded the championship to Murtholm Envoy, a son of Park Winston bred in Ian Hendersons herd but offered by W and J Thomson, Kelso. The champion made 1350gns to Ardnaw Farms, Lochgilphead.
Other prices included 1100gns for Messrs Hewsons Raeburnfoot Robin from their herd at Wigton, 1000gns for G Bell and Cos (Langholm) Bloch Matador, and 1000gns for Glendearg Shearer from W T Scott and Partners.
AVERAGES: Eight bulls £1109 and four heifers £367. (Harrison and Hetherington)
This bull, Murtholm Envoy, took the championship and made 1350gns.
