Wolds acres on market
NEARLY 1500 acres of arable land on the Yorkshire Wolds now is for sale as a whole with either vacant possession or as a going concern.
Low Mowthorpe Farm, Kirby Grindalythe, near Malton is guided at £4.25m but joint agents FPDSavills and DDM Agriculture are open to offers on parts of the unit.
Growing a combination of combinable crops and potatoes the land is classified grades 2 and 3 chalk and is mainly in a ring fence. There are almost 82 acres of grassland which are currently fallow.
Also the land benefits from an abstraction licence for 30m gallons/year pumped from two boreholes.
The farm buildings include more than 63,000sqft of modern storage with about 7500t of ambient and refrigerated potato housing.
Another range of buildings off-lying from the main steading offer some further storage and a dilapidated barn.
Accommodation on the farm ranges from a four-bedroom farmhouse, a three-bedroom cottage and two pairs of semi-detached cottages currently occupied by farm workers.
Andrew Black said: "In the Wolds terrain and with two areas of grass dale the property has a good deal of sporting potential".
Low Mowthorpe Farm is one of the largest units on the Yorkshire Wolds to be marketed recently. The 1482-acre farm is guided at £4.25m for the whole.
