Work of rural women discussed

THE work and needs of rural women are to be discussed in a series of meetings held in the run up to the fourth World Rural Womens Day.
The National Farmers Union and Womens Farming Union will stage the meetings in the run-up to the special day on Sunday 15 October.
World Rural Womens Day marks the contribution of rural women to agriculture. The countries taking part include China, Africa and the United States.
A special prayer, written by the Rev Gordon Gatward, of the Arthur Rank Centre in Stoneleigh, will be available to participants.
“The Church has an acute awareness of the central role of women in the community and particularly in the more isolated areas of the country,” he said.
“I hope we can play a key part in raising awareness of their contribution by taking the celebration into the heart of our communities.”
