Wormers rush in following Merial

patent expiry

THE first generic ivermectin cattle wormer to be launched in the UK since the patent held by Merial expired is called Noromectin and comes from Norbrook.

Launched this week, the new pour-on could be the first of several generics to be marketed in the next few months. In Brazil, there are now 50 such wormers on the market.

Noromectin, suitable for beef cattle and non-lactating dairy stock at least two months away from calving, is available in three sizes up to 2.5 litres. Recommended price for that amount is £159 which Norbrook claims is about £25 cheaper than Merials Ivomec.
