Yeo says sorry for BSE crisis
By FWi staff
CONSERVATIVE agriculture spokesman Tim Yeo has apologised for the last Governments handling of the BSE crisis, reports The Times.
This is believed to be the first public expression of apology over the affair, says the newspaper.
Mr Yeo said: “I recognise mistakes were made in the past.
“I deeply regret the loss of life from CJD and will certainly want to look at the [pending BSE] report very carefully to see if there are any lessons to be learnt in the future.”
Mr Yeos comments come days before the publication of the report by Lord Phillips into the BSE crisis, which is certain to criticise ministers mistakes.
