YOUNG FARMERS

ALUN Davies, a YFC member from Eyri and a former student of Glynillifon College, has won a scholarship from the English Speaking Union which will enable him to spend three months in Argentina. He will stay on a 65,000ha (160,615-acre) ranch in Tierra del Fuego to study large scale sheep and cattle production, and learn about the life and culture of the country.

&#8226 In Staffordshire federations calf club competition, Andrew Whitehurst of Dove Valley won the dairy section with Anne Coates of Uttoxeter runner-up, and Simon Evans of Ridware won the beef section with James Madders of Eccleshall runner-up. Simon Evans also won the award for the best handler under 16.

&#8226 The market marathon and fun day run by Luscombe Maye & Ivybridge YFC raised £3300 which has been shared between Plymouth & District Cardiology Fund, Macmillan Nurses Appeal and Devon Air Ambulance.
