HERE it is. The final week of the win-a-Mitsubishi Challenger competition, and the one with the coupon that you need to fill in and send to us. To recap, the prize in this competition is the Mitsubishi Challenger 2.5TD GLX. Launched in the spring, it fits in between the L200 and Shogun. It comes with a choice of 98hp 2.5 litre turbodiesel or 174hp V6 petrol engines. The V6 only comes in one spec version, the GLX, but the diesel comes in either lower-spec GLX or higher-spec GLS. Having said that, all models have a high level of equipment including power steering, electric windows, electric sunroof and central locking. On the road prices are £20,365 for the 2.5TD GLX, £23,675 for the 2.5TD GLS and £24,495 for the V6 GLS.
The aim of the Challenger is to combine off-road capability, carrying capacity and on-road comfort. So on-demand four-wheel drive, a high-low transfer box and good ground clearance allow assured progress to be made along potholed farm tracks, steep grass fields and boggy February farm lanes alike.
On the road, 90mph top speed capability and good levels of sound insulation make the Challenger an ideal vehicle for visiting farm shows, fetching spares from distant parts or carting family to see distant relatives at the weekends.
