Zimbabwe land seizure ‘catastrophic’
By FWi staff
THE seizure of white farms in Zimbabwe is “potentially catastrophic” for the countrys financial institutions, reports The Times
Turmoil in Zimbabwe is being blamed for the decline in the value of currency in neighbouring South Africa, says the paper.
The Daily Telegraph says squatters have launched a “new wave of violence” against Zimbabwes white farmers, occupying 10 farms 150 miles north of Harare.
According to The Independent, intimidation is now spreading beyond white-owned farms to the countrys Asian businesses.
But Clare Short, Britains International Development Secretary, has rejected claims that Westminster is neglecting the crisis, says the paper.
