HGCA to update nozzle guide in time for Cereals
The HGCA chart helping spray operators choose optimum nozzles for particular tasks is being updated.
The downloadable chart helped maximise spray product efficacy and minimise drift risk, explained TAG’s Paul Miller at the recent HGCA Agronomy workshop in Newmarket, Suffolk.
“It’s all about getting the balance between them right.”
The revised chart will provide more information on the effect of varying application volumes – the 2007 guide assumed growers were applying down to 100 litres/ha.
It will also include a link to a website giving more information on relative droplet sizes from different designs of air-induction nozzles; and it will highlight the importance of boom height in restricting drift.
“The new guide should be available by the Cereals event,” said Prof Miller.
