Andrew Symonds patiently awaits the harvest

Crops are looking well at Andrew Symonds’ Lincoms Farm, Worcs, but harvest is still at least three weeks away.

“We haven’t got any winter barley or rape – it will be well into August before we start harvest,” he said. “The winter barley isn’t ready around here anyway – there’s not a lot going on.”

Mr Symonds had 162ha (400 acres) of wheat, 40ha (100 acres) of oats and 20ha (50 acres) of Tipple spring barley to cut this year. “It’s all standing up at the moment.”

 Syngenta

Duxford winter wheat is an HGCA Recommended List 2008/09 variety with very high UK treated yields and the top score for resistance to lodging with PGR. Combined with an unbeaten second wheat yield and a balanced disease resistance profile, this new variety from Syngenta Seeds will help UK growers rise to the challenge of producing more grain profitably.
