AHDB issues updated sulphur advice for combinable crops

The AHDB has released new advice for managing sulphur in cereals and oilseed rape.

Its revised Nutrient Management Guide (RB209) now provides further clarity on sulphur availability from different sources and recommendations under different growing conditions, as the majority of UK soils now require an application of sulphur to boost protein content.

For oilseed rape the recommended application has been increased slightly from 50-75kg sulphite/ha to 50-80kg sulphite/ha, following trials by the AHDB and ADAS.

All hard copies of the guide, whether ordered online or picked up at events, will now have an amendment sheet enclosed.

The guide is also available for both Apple and Android devices, downloadable from the App Store or Google Play, while an iBook version of the guide can be found on the AHDB’s website.
