THE UK‘s biggest fertiliser distributor has decided it will stop selling Terra Nitrogen fertiliser in favour of Kemira GrowHow products.
Masstock Arable, which incorporates the Dalgety and Kenneth Wilson merchanting business, said it wanted to ensure added value from its 500,000 tonne/yr revised fertiliser portfolio.
“The number of fertiliser end-users will greatly reduce in coming years,” noted Masstock Arable managing director Declan Giblin.
“Those that remain farming will want to see added value as well as competitive prices from manufacturers and distributors of farm inputs.
“In such a scenario, we concluded, Kemira GrowHow (KGH) will have a strong role to play in our fertiliser portfolio.”
The KGH range of products is up-to-date, he added, and the company leads in terms of technical support and technical field staff.
He said more and more distributors were now focusing on a smaller number of brands, but were “striving not to remove choice from end users”.
“As the biggest seller of farm fertilisers in the country, we are prepared to take a lead in committing to what we see as the right brand for our customers,” added Mr Giblin.
Manufacturers and suppliers Masstock Arable is retaining in its new portfolio include Kemira GrowHow, BASF, Omex and major blenders, including IAWS.
The product range includes ammonium nitrate, compounds, blends, imports, liquids and speciality products and enhancers.
