Flying start for new Inputs Price Monitor

The new Farmers Weekly/NFU Inputs Price Monitor has got off to a flying start, with about 150 farmers taking part in the first week alone.
Launched at Cereals 2009, the online survey allows farmers to share information on how much they are paying for basic inputs, such as red diesel and ammonium nitrate, on a strictly anonymous basis.
This will build up into a valuable database, with Farmers Weekly publishing a snapshot of the results each week and the NFU producing a full analysis each month, with price ranges and regional breakdowns.
“The more farmers who get involved the better the data will be,” says Farmers Weekly economics editor Philip Clarke. “So if you’ve not done so already, please log on to www.fwi.co.uk/nfu-IPM and take part in the survey.
“As well as providing a useful benchmark, the IPM could also become a useful negotiating tool.”
To make it even more worth your while, we are offering a YEAR’S FREE SUBSCRIPTION to Farmers Weekly – worth about ÂŁ90 – for one participant selected at random this month.
