Good oilseed rape in Northants

Ray Dalton at Rockingham Castle Farms in Northamptonshire cut 100ha of Royal and Canberra oilseed rape with varied results.

Yields were between 3.5 and 4.5t/ha with no real difference between the varieties. Mr Dalton also reported there to be a few red seeds and green patches from the rain, but the quality was generally good.

The yields were slightly less than last year due to wet weather conditions when drilling last autumn. Wheat was not looking too bad, he said.
