Join us at Arable Insights Live: Potatoes

Following the success of the inaugural Arable Insights Live event earlier this year, Farmers Weekly is bringing the event back with a new focus on potatoes.

With potato growers facing increasing pressure from difficult markets, rising costs and the loss of key inputs, Arable Insights Live: Potatoes will explore practical ways to navigate these challenges.

The free event takes place on Thursday 17 September 2026 at Dyson Research Centre in Lincolnshire.

It will bring together expert knowledge, field-based learning and the latest research to help growers make informed decisions and improve performance on farm.

The day starts at 9am and finishes at 3.30pm, with a complimentary lunch provided.

Kicking off the day will be a farmer panel session discussing current industry challenges.

Potato growers Alex Godfrey, James Pick, Jim Reid and Will Shakeshaft, will be sharing their production systems thoughts on the future of the industry.

Attendees will have the opportunity to pitch their questions to the panel.

A number of breakout sessions will follow where growers can find out the latest potato research and innovation from:

Dyson Farming Research

Visit independent, field-scale trials exploring biostimulants, stress resilience, nutrition, canopy management to support better decisions in potato production.

Hutchinson’s

Join agronomist Dick Neal in the soil pit to see how previous crop, cultivations and weather can impact tuber size and quality.

Take a look at what’s been done, its impact on the crop and the soil and debate any improvements or cost saving that may be made.

Certis Belchim

In this session, a new blight fungicide will be introduced which both inhibits infection and activates the potato plant’s defence mechanism.

With the continuing loss of key inputs, new approaches to crop protection need to be developed.

OptiYield

After a season of record heat and moisture stress, crop resilience isn’t a luxury – it’s the difference between a marketable crop and a write-off.

This session will demonstrate how the OptiYield® System target can contribute to even crop establishment with Symposium® and MagPi and how tailored nutrition and biostimulants can supporting growth during heat and drought.
