Farmers Weekly has been inundated with photos after we asked about older and more unusual combines working this summer.

Stephen Robb sent us this shot of a rare 1961 McCormick International F8-63 in County Donegal, Ireland.

The family bought it as a wreck about a decade ago – since which time they’ve “brought her back to life”.

The machine’s pictured with a Case Axial Flow 2188. The two combines – driven by Stephen’s dad Liam and uncle Cieran – worked in tandem to cut the last of the winter barley.

Meanwhile Elaine Cox sent us this picture of two MF855 combines, with a joint age of 54, cutting Tipple spring barley on 14 August at Goosey in Oxfordshire.

The two machines have been used together for the last seven seasons on RB Cox & Son’s mixed farm, clocking up just short of 7,000 hours between them.

“They are reliable and are kept going using parts from two of our previous MF combines, now used as donor vehicles,” says Elaine.
