Poster highlights spray regs

A NEW POSTER has been produced to make infrequent pesticide users aware of the need to comply with the appropriate regulations.

While the Voluntary Initiative has led to a significant improvement in the standards amongst regular agrochemical users, many infrequent users are not fully aware of the regulations, said the Agricultural Industries Confederation’s Hazel Doonan.

“The vast majority of those who regularly apply pesticides are licensed under the National Register of Sprayer Operators and hold certificates of competence.

“But, those who use pesticides infrequently, particularly on paddocks and pastures are often either unaware of the regulations or do not think they apply to them.”

In such cases, they must either take the appropriate National Proficiency Tests Council or NRoSO training, or have the products applied by a qualified contractor, she noted.

Copies of the poster are being distributed to all registered BASIS stores and are designed to draw attention to the regulations, she said.
