Farmers are being reminded to complete the paperwork for this year’s Soil Protection Review by 31 December 2011 or risk losing out on support payments.

Failing to complete or update the SPR is one of the most common cross-compliance breaches made by producers.

The Rural Payments Agency has said the annual review should be completed using the appropriate sections within the Soil Protection Review 2010.

The SPR 2010 covers annual reviews for the 2011-13 scheme years and a new document has not been issued for 2011.

A statement released by the agency said farmers were not required to return the documents to the RPA.

Instead they should be kept on farm in case of an inspection.

Farmers have a choice of competing the Soil Protection Review in hard copy form or online.
