Tesco introduces maximum dose for propamocarb blight fungicide

Extensive residue testing has resulted in Tesco’s Nature’s Choice protocols introducing a maximum total season dose of the blight fungicide propamocarb to 4,500g ai/ha.

The occasional low level detection of propamocarb residues in potatoes during testing, coupled with the retailer’s desire for residue-free produce has resulted in the new requirement, Branston‘s David Nelson explains.

In practice it shouldn’t restrict growers ability to control blight, Bayer’s Patrick Mitton says. “Programmes will need to be planned, but growers will still be able to use two sprays of Consento during rapid canopy growth followed by three of Infinito in mid to late season.”
