The weather holds up Suffolk rape harvest

He is growing both Winner and Recital varieties.


So far he has managed to spray off three-quarters of the crop, but hasn’t been able spray all the crop due to the rain.


Mr Fairs‘s farm received 20mm in half an hour during a storm on Saturday, but other farms received more, depending how many storms passed over them.


After a day of rain and drizzle on Sunday (July 18), his farm received another 17mm


“This weather isn’t very helpful,” he said


“The rape isn’t really ready but we might start harvesting sometime next week depending on the weather.”
