Wheat going well in Kent

Oilseed rape and wheat harvest was going well for Kent farmer Peter Francesconi on Dean Farm.

He was pleased with Caracus, Lioness and Expert oilseed rape yielding 4 – 4.6t/ha. He said: “[The yield is] good for us up on the hills.”

He also said they were lucky for the moisture to come in at 12%.

Forty hectares of Soissons winter wheat was also good at 9.5t/ha, with a very good bushel weight of 81kg/hl.

He added: “It’s the best we’ve had in three or four years.”
