Wheat quality meets spec

Harvest is progressing as normal for James Chamberlain at Glebe Farm, Derbyshire.

Doyan and Wagon spring barley yielded 6.5 – 7.25t/ha, and oilseed rape 3.25 – 4.5t/ha, with Bravour yielding best, he said.

Malacca, Solstice and Hereward winter wheat yielded 6.25 – 8.75t/ha, and quality is good with the milling wheat all meeting full spec, he said. All Hagbergs ranged from the high 200’s to low 300’s.

He said progress is better than last year, but that is nothing to go by because it was not a normal season.
