Wheat yields above average in Shropshire
Wheat yields have been variable for Bruce Udale in Shropshire, with the lighter land being affected more by dry weather in July.
Yields were better on heavier land averaging just under 10t/ha which is equal to last year. With moisture at 16% he was pleased drying costs were low, and he said the crop was looking a bright colour.
Straw yielded well, but he is resisting high prices and is using it on his farm.
He plans to grow more Robigus next year, and Access on the lighter land.
