Bare land to tempt farmers and investors alike
A large block of grades 2 and 3 Cambridgeshire arable land at Bourn will see strong competition between farmers and investment buyers.
Available as a whole, the 138ha (342 acres) is a retirement sale and was in continuous wheat for several years until last season when it was left uncropped.
The good-sized fields were now ploughed and ready to go, said Catherine Scandrett of Savills’ Cambridge office, which has set a guide price of £2.2m. “The land would make an ideal addition to an existing landholding, but is also the right size to be an appealing individual investment opportunity.”
Farmland sales of this size in one block are rare; the land sits to the west of Cambridge and on the north-eastern edge of the village of Bourn. (Savills 01223 347 218)
The same firm also has almost 114ha (about 281 acres) for sale between Cambridge and Ely with a guide price of £2.3m. More than half of the acreage at Kingfishers Bridge, Wicken, has been turned into wildlife and wetland habitat since 1995. The remainder of the land is arable and meadow.
As well as a five-bedroom house and two three-bedroom cottages, there is a swimming pool, a grass airstrip for light aircraft and frontage to the River Cam with associated fishing rights. (Savills 01223 347 221)
