Farmworker seriously injured in tractor incident

A farmworker has suffered serious injuries after becoming trapped under a tractor in Cheshire.
The incident was reported at 10.41am on Saturday (17 November) in Wrexham Road, Burland, in Nantwich.
Two fire crews from Crewe and Nantwich and a major rescue unit from Winsford were called to the scene.

Firefighters worked with paramedics from the North West Ambulance Service to free the man from under the tractor.
They used farm machinery, airbags and timber cribbing to assist with the rescue operation.
A fire service spokesman said: “The man had suffered serious injuries and, once freed, he was passed into the care of the ambulance service.
“In total, crews were engaged in the operation for around one hour and 20 minutes.”
His condition is unknown.
Unreported injuries
Figures published by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) show farming is statistically the most hazardous occupations in the UK.
In 2017-18, 33 people were killed as a result of farming and agriculture-related activities – about 18 times higher than the all-industry rate.
According to the HSE, there could be as many as 10,000 unreported injuries in the industry each year.
