Extra time for Cirencester mart

CIRENCESTER MARKET has been granted an extension by Cotswold District Council to allow it to continue at its present site until Sept 7.
The mart, which sells about 350 cattle a week, would have been forced to close at the end of July so the council can redevelop the town centre site as a leisure complex.
Auctioneer John Pullin said the mart would move to its new site at Driffield, off the A419, in the early part of next year.
But thanks to local landowner and former NFU county chairman Lord Apsley, a temporary site had been found at nearby Tarlton, if the mart had to move quickly.
“But for the moment it‘s business as usual at Cirencester,” said Mr Pullin.
