Farmers Apprentice web TV stars: Mike
With less than a week before the first of our Farmers Apprentice web TV episodes begins, check out the finalists who will be the stars of the show.
The show follows the week-long bootcamp which put our finalists through their paces to find a winner of the £10K prize money.
Let’s turn our attention to Mike.
Mike Mateer was intent on a banking career, until he saw reason and became a dairy farmer.
Not that he’s lacking any kind of ambition; he’d like to be the Steve Jobs (late founder of Apple) of farming.
If he wins the £10K he’d like to develop his dairy business.
Mike summed up his bootcamp experience with the words “warm and fuzzy”.
We’re not sure if he’s referring to the sheep here, but shearing is among the physical farm tasks he’d like to do more of.
He enjoyed bootcamp so much, he says the only things that would have improved it were fireworks, ninjas and the Queen.
