Fenland agents merge to form Maxey, Grounds & Co

One of the oldest names in land agency is to change next month when Fenland agent Grounds and Co joins forces with Maxey & Son. The new firm will trade as Maxey, Grounds & Co from 1 October 2011.

It’s not known exactly when the East Anglian firm of Grounds & Co was established, although the current senior partner Frederick J Grounds is the eight generation of the family to practise in the Cambridgeshire Fens.

The firm was certainly around as far back as 1792, when the family auctioned some 237 acres of land at Benwick, near Ely.

Maxey Grounds & Co will operate from offices at Wisbech, March and Chatteris.
