Glyphosate prices under scrutiny in Inputs Price Monitor results

Farmers paid £212/t on average for domestic ammonium nitrate in August, according to the latest results from the NFU/Farmers Weekly Inputs Price Monitor.
Growers paid between £300-£330/t for triple-super-phosphate and a similar amount for muriate of potash.
Peter Garbutt, transport and inputs adviser at the NFU, said most August EU ammonium nitrate prices had been in the region of £200-220/t, but October prices had jumped sharply. “With 50-60% of the UK market now committed, any continuation of these price rises will be of particular concern to livestock producers who tend to buy later in the year.”
Red diesel prices averaged about 50p/litre in August, although relatively high world crude oil stock were helping to keep a lid on prices.
Farmers buying glyphosate in August, to dessicate crops or spray off weeds in stale seedbeds, paid £2.60/litre on average, the survey revealed.
The Inputs Price Monitor is free, takes less than two minutes to complete and is completely anonymous. The more farmers that take part, the more representative the results. Visit www.fwi.co.uk/IPM and tell us what you paid for key inputs in September.
