Hill farmers have just four days left to make HFA application

Hill farmers are being reminded by the Rural Payments Agency they have just days left to claim next year’s Hill Farm Allowance payments (HFA 2007).

Applicants were invited to express an intention to claim HFA in their 2006 Single Payment Scheme claim, prior to the publication of the Rural Development Regulations.

Following confirmation that the allowance will continue, applicants were posted a copy of the HFA 2007 Explanatory Booklet at the end of last year, which included details of scheme eligibility rules.

The mailing contained a declaration letter, which applicants to the scheme must complete and return, using the return envelope provided, no later than 19 January 2007.

Completed declarations received after 19 January 2007, but before midnight on 13 February 2007 will be subject to a 1% per working day late application penalty.

Declarations received after 13 February 2007 cannot be considered and the HFA claim will be rejected.

Hill farmers who have not received a copy of the explanatory literature, but who would like to claim HFA 2007, can download it from the RPA’s website.
