Historic auction for Wiltshire farm
History will be repeated at the Bear Hotel in Devizes on 1 May, when Manor Farm, Earlestoke, is auctioned as it was on 6 May in 1920.
This was the last time the strong grass farm came to the market and with very little land changing hands in the area recently, there will be some competitive bidding.
In the heart of Wiltshire, Manor Farm has improvement potential, with a five-bedroom Grade II listed farmhouse, four farm cottages and a range of traditional and modern farm buildings.
All but four of its 280 acres are in permanent pasture and Richard Nocton of Woolley and Wallis has split the unit into two lots for auction.
Lot 1, with a guide price of ÂŁ1.15m includes the 19th century Manor Farmhouse, in need of renovation, two farm cottages, a range of farm buildings and 91.5 acres of permanent pasture.
Traditional and modern farm buildings covering 10,710sq ft, in varying condition, are also included in this lot.
The second lot offers two tenanted farm cottages, a range of farm buildings and 183 acres of permanent pasture for ÂŁ1.1m. Here the buildings include a range of traditional single storey farm buildings (2,497sq ft), three corrugated steel grain bins with 75t capacity. The land is level pasture with good road access.
