Lamb supply blow

SAINSBURY HAS dropped one of its main fresh lamb suppliers, Devon-based Lloyd Maunder, with effect from Oct 1.

A spokesman for Lloyd Maunder said the loss of 4500t of packed lamb a year was a blow. “But we”ve got some very promising leads with another supermarket and buyers in Europe.” The firm”s recent acquisition of the Dewhurst butchery chain had also opened up new opportunities.
