Looking for land or farms for sale? Here’s what you need

Farmers Weekly has launched a new online property search portal for farms, farmland and country properties.

The latest innovation on its industry leading website www.fwi.co.uk will enable anyone interested in buying land or farms to find what they’re looking for at the press of a button, said group online editor Julian Gairdner.

“We’ve been aware for some time that there’s been a gap in the market for a well-supported dedicated rural property portal.

Although one or two have given it a go, what we can offer is an unrivalled targeted audience to our advertising customers which supports print advertising.”

International reach

“We increasingly receive calls from oversees buyers who want to be able to access property for sale in the UK, many of whom say they have not been able to find what they’re after. We hope this new feature on FWi will address that for both UK and foreign buyers.”

With a simple search function, users can select a category (farm, land or country property) and filter it according to price and location. The results will then link to the relevant entry on the agent’s website.

“When we researched the proposition a key requirement was getting users to the agents’ websites as effectively as possible,” Mr Gairdner added.

“We’re confident we will be able to do that by providing a ‘shop window’ for the agents and supply them with the best online audience in UK agriculture.”

Land market buoyant

He said that although the residential market had been struggling in recent months, the land and property market had been quite the opposite.

“It may seem a strange time to launch given what’s happening in the housing market, but the market for farmland and farms is much more buoyant and it’s important we provide this service in an increasingly web-enabled world.”

The property portal is the third new feature launched in recent weeks on FWi, Mr Gairdner added.

“We’ve launched a new jobs search service and an online dating service. It’s nice to be able to offer our users an increasing array of propositions with real value.”
