Online tool helps avoid minimum wage penalties

A new online tool has been launched to help businesses comply with national minimum wage legislation coming into force in April.

The Business Link national minimum wage calculator lets employers check how much they should pay staff for the hours they have worked and calculate arrears for underpaid workers.

From April employers who do not comply with National Minimum Wage rules will be issued with an automatic penalty of up to £5000 and will be liable to pay arrears to underpaid workers.
