Applications open for £2,000 grants towards farming studies

A round of funding has been made available by The Farmers Club Charitable Trust for individuals looking to study or take part in a research project linked to the farming sector.
Funding of up to £2,000 is available for each successful recipient in the form of a “Snapshot Study” grant.
Previous research projects have included supplying waste crops to food banks, regenerative farming, and attracting younger generations into agriculture.

More than £60,000 has been awarded through the scheme since 2022.
Nick Green, chairman of the Farmers Club Charitable Trust, said: “Over the past five years of awarding the Snapshot Study grants we have been so impressed by the range of topics, themes and discoveries the recipients have made.
“Some studies have had a profound impact. For example, Easter Ross farmer John Scott researched farmers’ mental health.
“His study was one of the catalysts for the launch of a sister charity to Farmstrong New Zealand’s wellbeing and mental health charity in Scotland.”
Applications will remain open until the end of July and any projects should be completed by the end of the year.
Successful applicants will be expected to create a three-minute video for The Farmers Club Charitable Trust, detailing the findings of their studies.
Mentoring will also be provided by trustees and more guidance is available on their website.
