Royal Welsh gets ready to rock

ORGANISERS OF the Young People‘s Village at the Royal Welsh Show have announced bands will be playing each night to celebrate one hundred years of the show.

Wales YFC says it will be transforming the site beyond all recognition with the marquee complex being replaced by an open air festival.

“What we have set out to do is to bring the festivities right up to date,” said co-ordinator Eurgain James.

“This year, we have 14 live bands performing on stage over the course of the four nights (19-22 Jul).

“We are confident that the rock concert atmosphere created by our open-air plan will add a lot more atmosphere in the process.”

Amongst the acts headlining each night will be Welsh rocker Dafydd Iwan, the Stereotonics, top ten Welsh band Anweledig and a Queen tribute band called Mercury.

“This must be one of the most impressive line ups that the YPV has ever seen, and with our new format, we‘re confident the atmosphere will be unbelievable,” said Ms James.

In addition to being the venue for the four-night open air festival, the YPV also has facilities for those wishing to camp out in a caravan or tent.

Tickets for a four night package are already on sale to the general public via Wales YFC, and cost £32 to non-YFC members and £25 to members.
