Stirling auction plans deferred

Plans by United Auctions to build a £10m auction market on the outskirts of Stirling will now be heard by Stirling Council’s Development Control Panel on 21 September.

The planning application for the new market on a 50-acre site at Hill o’ Drip was due to be heard last Thursday, but was deferred to allow UA to present on the later date.

It is understood that planning officials had recommended the application was refused.

But David Leggatt, executive chairman of United Auctions, told Farmers Weekly he was still optimistic that planning permission would be granted.

“We have received 1200-1300 letters of support from both local farmers and producers from all over the country as well as other agricultural organisations and businesses who understand the importance of the new market,” Mr Leggatt said.
