Farmers Weekly has teamed up with Forum for the Future and Nottingham Trent University to explore how farms could expand their business by producing energy as well as food.
Through the survey, we are looking to learn from your experience and build a picture of who is producing renewable energy and what’s stopping other farmers from doing so. The results will be presented to government and the energy industry at the end of May.
With 75% of UK land area in the agriculture sector, farms could provide land for new generating sites, grow more fuel, and make energy from new sources like animal waste.
By generating renewable energy themselves, farmers have an opportunity to support rural job creation, make an extra profit for their own business and help the UK to meet its promise to reduce carbon emissions.
