VIDEO: Jimmy Doherty joins Open Farm Sunday

Celebrity farmer Jimmy Doherty is expecting to play host to 2000 visitors as part of the Open Farm Sunday event which takes place this Sunday 13 June.

More than 400 farms are preparing to open their gates to show the public first-hand the dedication and skill of those who produce our food and care for the countryside.

It’s the second year that Jimmy and his wife Michaela have joined the initiative.

“We’re delighted Jimmy and Michaela are helping us launch Open Farm Sunday to the public,” said the scheme’s manager Tom Allen-Stevens.

“We already know that Open Farm Sunday is a proven and successful way to bring consumers in touch with what really happens on a working farm, and Jimmy and Michaela will help increase its appeal to a wider audience,” he added.

No fewer than four DEFRA ministers will be visiting local farms, and an enthusiastic group of Archers listeners have even campaigned to get the radio show’s fictional farms involved in the event.
