Agritechnica: Disc-based Rebell drill a milestone for Kockerling
The move to discs was the big news on the Kockerling stand. The new Vitu one-pass seed-and-fert drill is the milestone machine – it’s the first time the German company has used discs rather than tines on one of its seed drills.
Two rows of discs lead the Vitu drill, followed by a compact disc harrow with coulters for fertiliser placement between seed rows. Consolidation is by a wheel packer and seeding units are mounted just behind it. Pressure of the units can be controlled hydraulically.
Hopper capacity is 4,000-litres and it can be split 60/40 in favour of seed, but it can also be opened up if it is to be used for seed alone.
Kockerling also used the show to reveal the Rebell compact disc harrow. The 6m machine carries 620mm discs, is primarily designed for working on stubbles and should happily chop its way through high standing material.
Discs are mounted on spring tines and spaced at 150mm, and working depth is controlled hydraulically by two sets of twin wheels at the front and a large STS roller on the tail. Maximum working depth is 180mm and the Rebell’s transport wheels are hoisted up during work.
Minimum power requirement is 250hp and it weighs 8,840kg.
