FW Awards: Nominate for the 2026 Lifetime Achievement

Nominations are now open for one of the top honours in agriculture – the 2026 Farmers Weekly Lifetime Achievement Award.

We’re looking for a 2026 winner to add to the roll call of people recognised in previous years for making a sustained contribution over many years to agriculture, the countryside or the people who live and work there.

This special award, which will be announced at the Farmers Weekly Awards Night in October, is a way of celebrating one person who has made a huge difference to the sector over a prolonged period.

Past winners include charity supporters, peers of the realm, agriculture college academics, church leaders and journalists – a real cross-section of those who have devoted a lifetime to the service of our industry or the ancillary sectors.

In 2025, it was awarded to Margaret Dalton, a trailblazing West Wales hill farmer, recognised for decades of producing top-quality livestock, advocating for the Welsh agricultural industry, and mentoring the next generation. 

In 2024, it was Jeremy Moody, who – in his role as secretary and adviser to the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers – influenced governments at all levels, playing a key role in shaping agricultural policy and law for more than 30 years.

Other previous winners include the Tenant Farmers Association’s George Dunn, crop scientist Bill Clark and Leaf’s Caroline Drummond.

All too often the contribution of those in our industry goes quietly unrecognised, so this is a chance to say thank you and spotlight the work they do.

It might have been, for example, through campaigning, voluntary work, introducing innovative technical or business methods, through working with young people, or any other successful efforts over a long period.
