Livestock 2012: Silage inoculant could boost nutrients from lucerne

A new patented lucerne silage inoculant could help improve fibre digestibility, fermentation and forage energy density.

11AFT from Dupont Pioneer contains a novel strain of Lactobacillus buchneri which produces specific fibre-digesting enzymes, reduces shrink and improves aerobic stability of the face during feedout.

It also contains a unique strain of lucerne-specific Lactobacillus plantarum formulated to stimulate “front-end” fermentation efficiency by rapidly dropping pH, helping to retain valuable nutrients.
