5 tips for entering Farmers Weekly’s 2021 harvest photo comp

Farmers Weekly is offering readers the opportunity to see one of their harvest photos on the front cover of the magazine.
For a chance of winning this fantastic prize, all you need to do is upload your shots of the summer season to our Harvest 2021 picture gallery.
Here are five tips on taking a potentially winning shot:
- Have a look at the sort of pictures that usually appear on the front of Farmers Weekly
- Remember close-ups can often work better than long-distance “pastoral” shots
- We’re looking for a snap that captures the spirit of this year’s harvest experience, but it could focus on any aspect – whether that’s the crop, the machines, the people or perhaps a more unusual aspect
- Give some thought to the composition, as we’ll need a photo that is a square (or can be cropped to this shape)
- The shot would also need to allow a little space for us to add some coverlines (the words that you see on the front cover of Farmers Weekly).

The winning snap will be the main image on a Farmers Weekly cover towards the end of the summer or early autumn.
We’ll also be picking a selection through the season to share on our website, social media channels and in the magazine.
So even if yours doesn’t end up the overall winner, you might still see it in your favourite farming read.
We’ll announce a closing date later in the summer (it depends how early or late harvest is), but when we spot the perfect picture we’ll use it, so don’t take too long to send in your entries.
There is no limit to the number of images you can submit, but they must be your own, taken this year, and they must be a minimum file size of 2MB.
Uploading pictures is quick and easy. Just go to fwi.co.uk/harvest-2021 for more details.
*Always be mindful of safety when taking photos – especially near machinery or livestock.
