Capturing the lighter side of rural life

A Lincolnshire man has demonstrated his romantic credentials, farming-style, by enlisting the help of a bull to make a marriage proposal.
This is just one of the recent stories on Farmers Weekly’s Field Day blog, which focuses on the lighter side of country life.
Updated daily by the Farmlife team, just three of the other topics it’s covered recently are cows in swimming pools, sheep on roofs and pigs in bedrooms! And that’s before we even get to the duck-shaped potatoes, ferret nuptials or baguette-stealing squirrels.
We originally introduced Field Day in response to reader requests for occasional quirky countryside stories, alongside the news, business and technical information. Because sometimes in farming, you’ve just got to smile, after all…
This isn’t, incidentally, the only example of a marriage proposal involved a farm animal. Only earlier this week, Field Day covered the story of a Somerset farmer who used donkeys when he popped the question.
