Charity to train 500 farmers to host school visits

Farming’s leading educational charity has outlined it goals for the next five years, which include training a minimum of 500 more farmers to lead school visits.
Farming and Countryside Education (FACE) has published a new business plan, which says it wants all children to understand where their food comes from and to learn how to choose and prepare healthy food.
It also wants every childe to visit a farm at some point and learn about possible countryside careers.
The charity also wants to build on the legacy of the successful Year of Food and Farming.
“We will work with partner organisations to produce relevant teaching and learning materials which will be available through our very successful and regularly updated website,” it said.
“We will also continue to build links between schools and farmers, growers and retailers to provide high quality educational visits.”
