Combine-driving 90-year-old grandma still at the helm

A 90-year-old grandmother has been called an “inspiration” by farmers after a picture of her cutting winter barley in a Claas combine was posted online.

Granddaughter Emma Foot, a third-generation beef and arable farmer on the family farm in Dorset, shared the picture on Twitter on 8 July.

It has since received more than 3,000 likes and dozens of comments of admiration for Win Foot. “She’s definitely an excellent role model and always keen to get stuck in,” said Emma.

“She’s an amazing woman – cooks all our dinners from scratch, has a wonderful garden, and does so much for charities.”

The winter barley harvest is in full swing across the uK, with many farm records broken for the earliest start.

We’re thrilled to see Win still at the helm of her combine and we actually spoke to her a few years back about her life and why she’s still farming. Here’s to many more harvests Win.
